Startup Camp Atlanta – Games & Apps, in partnership with IGDA-Atlanta, the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), and the Georgia Entertainment Media Work ready region, will hold the first ever Startup Camp Atlanta – Games & Apps in Atlanta on September 23rd. The event will help showcase Atlanta as a city supporting a thriving digital media industry.

This event is designed to advance the local game & App development industry with more than 200-300 attendees expected to register for the event. The Startup Camp will serve to ultimately teach business Startups how to move into the business of mobile gaming by highlighting three different segments: Mobile & App Developers, Game Artists, Writers, Musicians, Digital Content Creators, Venture and Angel Investors, Experts, & Leaders.

Startup Camp Atlanta – Games & Apps is a mobile games and Apps competition focused on design, software development, and product development. It is a 54 hour start up event that provides the networking, resources, and incentives for individuals and teams to go from idea to launch, get connected with local developers, innovators, and entrepreneurs and build community, collaborate, and start new companies.

The best and brightest developers in Georgia will have 60 seconds to 90 to present ideas for mobile games or apps. Teams will form around those ideas. They then spend the weekend getting advice from professional mentors and investors, building a proof of concept, demo, or sometimes even a finished product.

The first event will be held at ATDC in Georgia Tech’s Technology Square Centergy campus in Midtown Atlanta which serves as the center of a dynamic community of technology-based start-up companies, investors, service providers and the Technology Association of Georgia.

“If you have an idea for a game or App, this will be the place to be,” said Jesse Lindsley, President of IGDA Atlanta and CEO of Thrust Interactive. “But there’s a serious purpose – and that is to publicize the importance of interactive entertainment and digital distribution, and to encourage more investment and development in this vital economic sector.”
