The Mobile Wallet - It's Here to Stay
Tue, 12/07/2010 - 12:43pm — atpadmin
When: Tuesday August 9, 2011
Where: Crowne Plaza Ravinia
Networking: 5:30PM
Featuring Barry McCarthy as the keynote, our upcoming panel of senior leaders with responsibilities for overseeing mobile payments functions within their respective organizations will explore some of these very themes around what the present and future holds as they seek to harness the power of mobile commerce.
While financial services is at the crossroads with regulations stemming from the Dodd-Frank and Durbin amendment collectively expected to wipe out $22 billion from annual balance-sheets, industry analysts forecast unprecedented growth in mobile transactions globally from $162 billion in 2010 to $984 billion in 2014.
- What challenges and opportunities will mobility create for established players, new entrants, merchants, and consumers in the transformed future of payments?
- What role will existing players (issuers, associations, processors) assume in the new mobile payments ecosystem? How will their business and operating models need to be re-(de)fined to remain relevant?
- What do mobile handset manufacturers, carriers, and platforms stand to gain? What industry standards and technologies will prevail + drive adoption?
- How will emerging partnerships, coalitions, and ventures like Google Wallet, Isis, Square, M-PESA, etc. alter the ecosystem?
- What value will mobile payments - by itself and in combination with hyper-localization and m-couponing - create for merchants and consumers?
