FAQ
1. What is ATP?
ATP is a non-profit organization created for the purpose of providing an environment for networking, the exchange of important industry information, and the recognition of excellence within the local telecom community. ATP exists to meet the professional development and networking needs of its members – Industry and Enterprise telecom, cable, and Internet professionals.
2. What kind of events have you held?
ATP hosts monthly events on the second Tuesday of each month except May, July and December. Our annual ATP Golf Tournament is in May and we take July and December off. Event topics have covered a variety of telecom-related issues, including 3G & 4G wireless advances, Unified Communications, Net Neutrality and venture capital in the telecom industry, to name a few. We have featured some of the most renowned telecom experts in the community, including Ralph de la Vega, President & CEO of AT&T Mobility, Ron Hutchins, CTO and Vice Provost of Georgia Tech, and telecom representatives from top Fortune companies such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, Home Depot, Equifax, Agilent, and Verizon Wireless.
3. How is ATP organized?
Behind the scenes of ATP exists a group of dedicated volunteers, including a board of Directors and Executive Advisory Board. These individuals come from a variety of companies (AT&T, Sprint, Orange Business Services, Qwest, Kanonix, Colocube, Infor, Clearwire, etc.), industry sectors (CLECs, Carriers, Industry Recruiters, Small Telecom Business Owners, etc.) and represent a variety of titles (CEO, SVP, VP, Network Operations Manager, Account Executive, etc.).
4. What other ways can my organization get involved with ATP?
Your organization can become an annual ATP Sponsor, sponsor of the annual Golf Tournament, or sponsor a specific monthly event, including the ATPY Awards Gala in November. For information about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Pedro Ferreira at 678-454-1439. Beyond monthly events and sponsorships, the ATP is always looking for individuals to help on our committees, to speak at events, and to participate on both our Board of Directors and Executive Advisory Board. If this interests you, call Victoria White at 404-966-6665.
5. What is the ATPY Award Gala?
ATP ends every year by presenting the ATP of the Year Award, to celebrate excellence in the local telecom community. Our organization believes that the continued growth and success of the local telecom community relies on the ability to attract and retain top executives. It is in this spirit that we will honor one such individual and his or her specific contributions with regards to Leadership, Growth, Collaboration, Innovation, and Community Involvement. In 2009 we were pleased to recognize Glenn Lurie, President, Emerging Devices, Resale and Partnerships for AT&T Mobility with the 2009 ATPY award. ATP opens up the ATPY planning committee to its membership.
6. How many people are you expecting at this year's ATPY Award Gala and Dinner?
Last year’s event was sold-out weeks in advance, with nearly 100% of the Nominees in attendance. This year, we have moved the event to a larger venue to accommodate more than 600 people and fully expect to sell out again. Seats can be reserved by individuals or by the table (10 seats per table). Please note that many sponsorship "packages" include seats as part of the offering.
7. How can my organization get involved with this year's ATPY Award Gala and Dinner?
We encourage you to nominate worthy candidates for the award and encourage your organization to become an event sponsor.
